The Oblivion Crisis left a once-great Empire strewn in ruins even with the towering avatar of Akatosh to watch over their Imperial City. It's been three years since the gates were shut and without an heir to the Imperial throne, hope fell short for the Elder Council. Without authority or even a legitimate claim to rule the Empire, provinces began to cede one by one. In a desperate attempt to attain order, the Elder Council ordered the Imperial Legion Reserve to try to convince through, sometimes violent policy, to rejoin the peaceful and diplomatic organization. The ranks were stretched thin and war erupted all over Tamriel.
Great cities that once dominated the political field were no more than smoldering coals littered across miles of desolation. Morrowind once again took up arms against Black Marsh, or Argonia. Skyrim fell into a civil war as chieftains were rushed back into age-old conflicts of blood and tears. High Rock and Hammerfell found old enemies back from Orsinium to claim territory once theirs, thus sparking a great war between three great powers.
Even within were warring nations brought to heed as the country of High Rock faced internal threats from its divided kingdoms, composed of jealous nobles and sly tacticians. Valenwood, never much a strong political entity, faces a repeat siege from its close neighbor Summerset as the High Elves gear for claiming a share of mainland territory.
The County Leyawiin faces another sect of problems as Elsweyr's mane strikes at its borders to reclaim territory it once held close. Without the structure and security of the Empire, war has broke out from sea to sea across Tamriel.
Inside Skyrim, more tension begins to boil. The Nords realize their mistake of taking in the Sloads as they watch them make their way to Solstheim to take up arms against the Falmer.
Amongst the chaos, only the most serene and land-locked areas remain safe from conflict. How long with such last? What will be done about the wide-spread chaos eating away at the very foundations of Tamriel?
