Top 10 overrated games

10: Super Mario Sunshine -

It sold something like 7 million copies, and it was the worst Super Mario game I've played since Super Mario bros 2.

9: Gran Theft Auto (assorted)

Run about in a poorly designed city with bad graphics and beat random people up or shoot then, crash cars, run from the police. It's basically driver 2 with perks. It's fun for maybe half an hour, and then it gets old. I don't understand why it's so popular.

8: Gran Turismo 4

It's the worst game of the series by far. Can't they do anything different? After you've played the first 3 games, I'm pretty sure you understand the fundamentals and know how to drive the cars. So why the extensive license tests AGAIN? I hate the music and the set up.

7. Final fantasy 12

Looks amazing, but the gameplay is practically none existant - and the main side quests, the hunts, involve the same dry gameplay. Penelo's outfit looks ridiculous, and the twin brother thing was mary sueish. And the worst of it all - SPOILER ALERT






- Vaan doesn't kill Gabranth to avenge his brother. The whole game leads up to the showdown between Vaan and Gabranth, and he pussies out. Ruined the character and the game. I hate FF12.

6. Two Worlds

Advertised as though it were elder scrolls. There is no plot at all, infact regardless of what you do the ending is completely lame - and you'll spends days of gameplay getting there since the map system sucks dick.

5. Pokemon Diamond and Pearl

Really bad plot, same dry ass gym system... Ugh... Online was nice, but they could have at least upped the graphics to pokemon stadium levels. It's the DS, not the snes.

4. Guitar Hero Games

Oh my god. Yeah, they're fun. But over hyped, you better believe it. It's like a cult following...It's like a musical star wars convention...

3. World of Warcraft

Really? Monthly fees, loss of a social life...people resorting to automated training or cheating to battle people online? It's a big scam.

2. Super Mario Galaxy

It got a near perfect rating. I'll admit, it's a pretty cool concept, everyone's favorite plummer traveling through space after the flying castle and princess peach. But...it gets pretty repetitive, and why can't bowser think of another plan? Or find a new girl? It's like he wants to get his ass kicked by Mario.

1. Halo 2 - hands down. When that game hit the shelves, everyone at my school wouldn't shut up about it. I didn't even know what an xbox WAS until Halo 2 came out, and then suddenly everyone had it. It is a great game, and it defined multiplayer online in a lot of ways, but it's ability to bend the video game culture ranks it number 1 on my list of over rated games.

if I had to pick my top 5 favourite mario games they would be in it. super mario sunshine was underated if anything in my opinion lmao.

In MY opinion, the top 5 most overrated games and 5 most underrated games...

Overrated

5. Madden NFL (insert year here)

Don't get me wrong I love football, but these games really do get old fast. I get bored with them after about a week of playing. The most amazing thing about them though is we keep buying them year after year after year and every year there's a huge buzz around it as if it's going to be the game of the century. Oops, no, just the same crap from last year.

4. Sonic Adventure (or any Sonic game made after 1999)

They all suck. Really, they just don't have the same appeal as the old Genesis games did. And whoever the voice actor is who plays sonic should be shot. Also what's the deal with all these new characters? Sonic, Tails and maybe Knuckles was enough. P.S. it's Dr. Robotnick, not Dr. Eggman.

3. Super Mario Bros. 2

Why, oh why does anyone look back on this game fondly? It's simply an awful game. And the icing on the cake, the whole game was a dream.

2. Halo

I really don't think Halo is that horrible of a game, but the ridiculous hype it gets is what lands it on this list. Admittedly I'm not that huge of a FPS fan, so I may be biased on the subject. An average game with a fanatic following.

1. Tetris

It's a classic right? I don't get it. I couldn't be any more bored with a game then I was and still am with this one. Most overrated game ever? Some say it is so.

Underrated

5. Resident Evil (GameCube)

A lot of people are fans of Resident Evil, no denying that. But how many of you have played the remake of the original game on the gamecube? A fantastic game and probably the best of the series in my opinion.

4. Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island

Who's with me in saying this game is better then the original Mario World? Both are great games but I really liked this one. How long is it going to take Nintendo to make it available for the virtual console?

3. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II

This game gets a bad rap simply for not being as good as the original. Though if you look at it on its own, it's a great game in a lot of ways that actually surpasses the first game in a lot of areas (the ability to seduce your party members to the dark side being my favorite ^_^)

2. Harvest Moon 64

Best game you never played right here. The idea is deceivingly simple; grow crops, raise animals, repeat. Sound boring? You'd be surprised. The game is disarmingly addictive, I've never had hours leak away so quickly then I had playing this game.

1. Golden Sun

Never heard of it? YOU FAIL!!! Best RPG I've ever played. Some say that large sprawling RPG's are wasted on a platform like the GameBoy Advance. Since we're all fans of Pokemon here I assume most of you don't share that opinion. If your a Final Fantasy fan and don't mind playing a long engrossing game on your DS, then pick this one up. It will not disappoint.

I love Halo, to the extent of reading the books and knowing the storyline really well, but I think it is way overrated. Maybe its all the loser kids who play it that make me dislike how big it is.
Overrated doesn't mean bad, lol.
Cain, if you have harvest moon, shouldn't something like Animal Crossing beat it? That game is awesome until you stop playing it for two days and don';t want to go back because you missed stuff.
I never felt Guitar Hero was all that overrated though... I totally still want Rockband as soon as I can afford it <_<

Guitar Hero and Rock band is awesome, but only if you have someone to play along w/ you. Otherwise it sucks.

I got Guitar Hero World tour 2 years ago. Played once w/ friends. Returned it a week later.

I don't consider Yoshi's island a Mario game, I consider it a Yoshi game. XD But it would take third spot on my Mario game list if I counted it, after bros 3 and SM world. The main drawback yoshi's island had was the lack of multiplayer and side quests. I really liked the almost crayon drawn levels though, it is a really cool game.
